1. Course Overview

This is a high-skill vocational course designed to train individuals for a specialized job role: “Reach Stacker Operatior”.It is an intensive, practical training program with a significant focus on hands-on skills (approx. 2 months of practical training) and simulated/on-site exposure to terminal environments. The course combines theoretical knowledge of international compliance standards with mastery of the Reach Stacker machinery.

This course will be certified by Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Ltd. (KSIE) and the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme Kerala (ASAP Kerala) jointly.

2. Skills Covered

The curriculum is structured around mandatory modules that cover the core functions of operating high-capacity container handling equipment. Key learning areas include:

  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Mastery of all Reach Stacker controls, complex maneuvering (loaded/unloaded), driving in confined spaces, and safe handling of all types of containers.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: In-depth knowledge of safety legislation.
  • Terminal Procedures: Calculating safe working loads (SWL), vehicle loading/unloading protocols, and optimizing container stacking/de-stacking in a yard grid.
  • Maintenance & Pre-Checks: Performing daily pre-operational checks, routine maintenance, refuelling procedures, and recognizing/reporting faults and defects.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Completing log books, checklist records, and maintaining operational integrity and ethics.
  • Employability Skills : A dedicated module focusing on essential workplace skills such as Communication, Digital Literacy, Customer Service, and Professional Integrity.

3. Who is this course for?

  • Recent School Graduates: Students who have completed their 10th Pass / ITI (Industrial Training Institute).
  • Valid LMV permanent driving license (minimum 1 year old, mandatory under CMVR Act)
